Rohit Roy's quite a shaukeen

Aug 09, 2011

Along with acting, Rohit Roy's also busy directing the remake of Shaukeen (originally directed by Basu Chatterjee).

Says Rohit, "Shaukeen and Chupke Chupke are my all-time favourite comedy films. When they came to me to direct it, I didn't think twice. It's a timeless film and everyone who reaches the golden age of 50 starts thinking of what he has missed in life while running the rat race. Everybody wants to relive their glory days, but life teaches you that you can never rewind... so live life kingsize while you still have the time.

We are looking at some brilliant actors to essay the roles immortalised by Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and A K Hangal - a tough act to beat. I have kept the original plot of the film but taken it to the next level in terms of the screenplay," says Rohit who had directed the short film Rice Plate as part of Dus Kahaniyana.
